Third generation joins the business

Post-war Dubai was rebuilding after the pearl crash and Great Depression. The Creek bustled with dhows carrying gold, spices, and textiles to India and Iran.

Sheikh Rashid began his legendary dredging of Dubai Creek, borrowing more than the emirate's annual income - a gamble that transformed the city forever.

United Arab Emirates founded

On 2 December 1971, the rulers of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, and Fujairah united to form the UAE - Ras Al Khaimah joined in 1972. The Trucial States became a sovereign nation.

Fourth generation expands leadership

The Jebel Ali Free Zone launched in 1979, offering tax-free trade. Dubai World Trade Centre - once the tallest building in the Middle East - had just opened.

Dubai's hospitality scene was emerging. The first international hotels were opening, and a wave of restaurants serving the growing expat community created new demand.

Fifth generation joins the business

From the Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Internet City in 2003 to the Expo 2020 bid and the Burj Khalifa era - the fifth generation led Tulsidas through Dubai's most transformative decade.
